As the nation’s largest grocer, Walmart is taking the lead to engage the food industry in the fight against hunger in the U.S. And as a global leader in cereal and snacks, Kellogg is helping their efforts to ‘Fight Hunger, Spark Change.’
According to the USDA, 48 million people in America, including more than 15 million children, struggle with hunger. Imagine trying to sit still, calculate a difficult math problem and finish a book report with a growling, achy stomach.
Our passion to relieve hunger led to our launching Breakfasts for Better Days, our global signature cause, in 2013. We believe a good breakfast gives kids the best start to their day. But to realize those benefits, they first need access to breakfast. Since its inception, the Breakfasts for Better Days initiative has provided more than 1.4 million of servings – more than half of which were breakfast – to families in need around the world.
Now, we’re inviting you to join us and Walmart to help make that a reality for the 1 in 7 Americans who don’t have enough to eat. Like Kellogg, Walmart is committed to providing meals to those in need and helping ensure that every family has access to affordable, nutritious and sustainably grown food. The ‘Fight Hunger, Spark Change’ campaign will run online and in U.S. Walmart stores today through April 25.
To get involved:
- Purchase specially marked Kellogg’s products at Walmart and you’ll help secure a meal for someone in need through Feeding America food banks
- Use your social feed to #FightHunger on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to generate donations for Feeding America and use the unique Snapchat filter in select stores
- Donate to local Feeding America food banks at the register
Just think, by stocking your cupboard, you could help fill someone’s stomach. For every Kellogg’s purchase you make through April 25, 2016, we will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal ($.09) to Feeding America, guaranteeing a minimum of $150,000 and up to $1.5 million. Through the generosity of Walmart, its partnership with suppliers and your support, we could reach the campaign goal of 75 million meals for Feeding America and its member food banks across the nation.
